Thinking question

From my social psychology textbook:

"Imagine you had the power to prevent either a tidal wave that would kill 25000 people in Pakistan, a crash that would kill 250 people at your local airport, or a car accident that would kill a close friend. Which would you prevent?"

Fortunately, it's a decision we'll never have to make, but what if you did?

Text Twist adventures pt.ii

Totally just blew the 55510 record out of the water with a new high score of: 101840. Can't believe it went on that long, I was on fiah!

I eventually lost on... COLORS...darn American game... =(

Text Twist adventures

So Jenn and I are having a Text Twist contest today (which may last until exams are done) to see who can set the highest score. The game is good for studying because each game only lasts a couple minutes and you can take breaks any time. It's actually been pretty competitive, and we're not accepting help from anyone else while we play. There have definitely been times where each of us has watched the timer count down to zero on the other person's screen while we knew the 6-letter word the entire time. One time, earlier in the day, it was counting down on me and Jenn told me the word and I refused to put it in and just let it go down to zero and lost. We refuse to taint our scores.

Anyways, she is the current winner with a score of 55510 from a couple weeks ago.

After previous runs up to about 20000 or so, I caught fire. But, alas, it came to and end, and I just lost with a score of... 52300.

Frickin' frickface. So close... so unsatisfying.

The word was MAGPIE, which I know but would never think of.

This better be one majestic scone...

It is now certain that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the word 'epic' is being overused. According to dictionary.com, epic as an adjective is used to describe something:
  1. noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centred upon a hero, in which a series of great achievements or events is narrated in elevated style
  2. resembling or suggesting such poetry
  3. heroic; majestic; impressively great
  4. of unusually great size or extent
Yesterday, as I was deciding what to purchase from the Science CnD for breakfast:

Me: *thinking of getting a cheese bagel*

Acquaintance from my program: Mmm... I'll get a scone. *gets a scone*

Me: Are the scones good?

Acquaintance: They're epic.

This is just my thought, but the use of 'epic' to describe a scone might be a stretch.

it's just sad

there's nothing wrong
it's no one's fault
probably for the best

it's just sad

...

inside, it seems the fight is finally over
went on for awhile
tried to hang on
the hope of the possibility

outside, the wind gently tries its best
so warm and comfortable
it's been a long time
missed you

didn't know they'd be here
just a few
impossible to ignore

hard to say goodbye
it hurts

the hill finds itself quiet
in the warm breeze
peaceful
so softly do the trees rock back and forth

and

there they go

finally, they're free
one by one they leave
up
into the sweet air

...

nothing wrong
no one's to blame
for the best

still

just a bittersweet sadness
